Launched in 2013 by London-based designer Hannah Wiland, Shrimps established itself for its well-known faux fur outerwear pieces, but also for its handmade accessories. The team is made up to 90% of women, and each season they collaborate with several truly original artists and creatives.
Why can you consider Shrimps a sustainable brand?
Shrimps has an ethical approach to fashion and bases its philosophy on cruelty-free, meaning, there’s no pain inflicted on the animals that’re used for making raw materials. For that reason, wool has a prominent place in the production of Shrimps garments, using only innovative fabrics made from recycled fibers. Within the company, discrimination of any kind is avoided during the hiring, casting and selection of collaborators.
What do you contribute to when you buy a Shrimps item of clothing?
For each order placed on the brand's website, a tree is planted in collaboration with the "One Tree Planted" association. So far, trees have been planted in Australia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda.
**Perhaps not everyone knows that... **
Most of Shrimps' suppliers are based in London, which helps reduce their impact on shipping while also supporting independent local businesses.
