Luigi Morino
Luigi Morino is one of the most talented and well-known Italian hair stylists in the fashion world. We had the chance to meet him, and in addition to his passions, we discovered some interesting facts about Elisa's look. Find out more.
Hi Luigi, how did you start your career as a hair stylist and how did your passion for this profession come about?
The passion for this job was definitely passed on to me by my mother, even though she doesn't work in the same profession as me. I remember from when I was a child how much care she dedicated to her hair and how important it was for her to always have her head in order before leaving the house. She passed on to me the concept of hair as if it were a garment to be worn every day and this probably brought me closer to this profession. Consequently, when I moved to Florence at the age of 17, surrounded by art and beauty, I decided to undertake studies to transform this passion into what is now my job. I immediately started working at weekends in various salons, and then approached the world of fashion, which has always been one of my goals, working alongside professionals already established in the field.
What was the work you most enjoyed following?
There are several sets that have remained in my heart, difficult to choose one. Definitely all work where I feel good energy and the desire to work as a team, experimenting together in order to bring home creative work that satisfies everyone's taste.
You work a lot with singer Elisa, what's it like to work with her? How do you design hair for her performances?
I grew up listening to her songs and the strange spins the universe makes led me to her! Unbelievable... I met her a few weeks before her participation in Sanremo and a great synergy was immediately created that was confirmed during the festival. I always say that working with Elisa is a breath of fresh air because in addition to being a great artist and mother, she's a really nice and overwhelming person! Usually the hair to be created for her performances comes after seeing the look she will be wearing. We've a very similar aesthetic taste, I can count myself lucky because Elisa loves to experiment and gives me the opportunity to create looks that are always different, ranging from the most natural to the most graphic and structured hair. Basically there's a beautiful flow of teamwork where we compare and align ourselves in order to make a coherent and emotional image for every occasion!
If you hadn't gone in this profession, what would you have liked to do?
I love my job so much that I can't imagine doing anything else today. I'd definitely have chosen a creative job in which I could express my taste and aesthetic sense.

Where do you get inspiration for your work?
Actually from the most disparate places such as the supermarket, the airport, while travelling, stations, the beach, from films and wherever my gaze is caught by an unexpected image. It'll automatically become mine and I often bring it back by contextualising it on the models I work with.
What's your plans for the future and where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years I see myself in love as I am today. Preferably in a beautiful garden spending time with my loved ones, my family and dedicating myself to my work with the same passion as I do today.
Do you have a motto?
