Annie Mazzola
Annie Mazzola, we could define her as the Clark Kent of the fashion world: booker for an important, Milan-based modeling agency by day, entertainer of the Instagram era by night. The most unusual question she has ever been asked? โIs it you or a robot who replies to the direct messages you receive?โ. It actually was her who got back to our questions, without the slightest lipstick smear.
โAlways believe, never give upโ. Can we say you made this maxim your life manifesto?
Absolutely, yes! Simona Ventura came up with it and I made it mine.
Iโm very happy and proud of both my shapes and my 153 cm of height. Moreover, I can assure you that, when I teach my models how to walk on high heels in my โWalking Lessonsโ, their slides are no better than mine.
Besides having a very strong identity, you sport a unique and original look: black fringe, red lipstick and modern pin-up style. What do you like most and least about your look?
What I like most is thatโฆitโs mine: it wasnโt made up to create a character, Iโm exactly the same one I was a few years ago, same hairstyle and makeup. The aforementioned fringe is just my distinguishing feature, I cut it myself (and Iโll always do it on my own).
You now have โa life on the stageโ and many ongoing collaborations. Do you miss anything about everyday life?
Yes, of course. I miss having some more free time. My life really is super busy: I split my time between the life in the agency and the life of the entertainer, and I always have to work on a lot of projects. Iโd like to have a few spare hours to relax and just dedicate myself to my two jobs with more calmness.
Letโs talk about fashion. Whatโs always in Annieโs bag?
A lipstick, absolutely.
Besides the many collaborations, youโre a great professional in the field of model booking, working for an important, Milan-based agency. What does it mean to work with women who are 40 cm taller than you pretty much every day?
Well, Iโm used to it and I have to say itโs never been a problem for me. Each and every person is unique and obviously the physicality of a model is very different from mine. Iโm very happy and proud of both my shapes and my 153 cm of height. Moreover, I can assure you that, when I teach my models how to walk on high heels in my โWalking Lessonsโ, their slides are no better than mine.
You really have a healthy lifestyle. As your Instagram stories witness, on some days, at 6AM, youโre out and about, ready to train yourself. That being said, whatโs your all-time favourite dish?
I would have never thought of saying it, but training really excites me. Iโm lucky to have a wonderful personal trainer, Sara Ventura, who is passionate and patient, having respect for my needs (and my desires). I donโt follow any diet and I could never live without meat sauce.
Mrs. Franca, your mother, is a style icon and one of the most followed ladies on the internet. Who are the people youโre really attached to?
There are so many of them and theyโre all unique. How much time do I have to talk about them all? My mumโs unique and sheโs a really important point of reference for me. My dad Piero, whoโs a bit more โofflineโ than Franca, also is a fundamental presence in all my choices. Then, thereโs Andrew, whoโs more than my best friend, whoโs more than a brother, whoโs that person you donโt have to say anything toโฆbecause a glance is more than enough. Giuseppe and Eleonora, who I met when I moved to Milan 7 years ago and who are now part of my โfamilyโ. Rebeccaโs not only a wonderful friend but also my stylist. Vittoriaโs one of my favourite human beings and, last but not least, my agent Filippo. As I told you, there still are many more.
Has being a woman who exposes herself on the social networks ever led you to face haters and cyber bullies? Whatโs your defense against keyboard warriors?
I donโt like to call them haters, I prefer to define them as โpeople who donโt have a satisfying life and, instead of trying to reach their goals, spend their own time criticizing othersโ successโ. Lucky for me, my following isnโt made up of this kind of people. As I always expose myself, sometimes people donโt agree with meโฆbut thatโs totally normal.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I canโt say, really. For me, itโs always hard to make such long-term predictions.
We are going to a hideous karaoke bar in the suburbs. Which song do we sing? And, most importantly, which outfit do we wear?
Karaoke bars never are hideous. I love karaoke bars of any kind. We just wear sequins and sing โI Will Surviveโ!
Make a wish.
A good mood, forever.
The aforementioned fringe is just my distinguishing feature, I cut it myself (and Iโll always do it on my own).
