Originally named “Jungle Jap”, Kenzo Takada’s eponymous brand was founded in 1970, 6 years after the Japanese-born designer relocated to Paris to start his career in fashion. He began by creating handmade women’s clothing but the brand has since branched out into men’s and kid’s clothing as well as accessories and shoes. The brand’s style is based on Takada’s original vision of combining Asian style influences with European cuts. Kenzo clothing celebrates cultural diversity with its use of bold prints, colors and motifs (like their iconic poppy logo). With over 140 stores worldwide, the brand firmly established a global presence, with pieces being worn by big names like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Lorde, Michelle Obama and Jay-Z.
